Nate Hollis was supposed to skate at his hometown rink's Christmas fundraiser. A knee injury puts the Hartford Captains winger in a chair instead, and the woman running the event is Erin Keane, the childhood friend he let down four years ago.

By the time he walks in, Erin has already rewritten his part of the program around that chair. Then his rental falls through, and her parents offer him their downstairs room for most of December. Erin is staying upstairs.

Nate wants his place on the ice back. He also wants Erin, the woman she is now, with her lopsided Christmas tree and her refusal to let charm stand in for an answer. What she asks of him is the thing he has always found hardest to give, an honest answer when the honest answer is that he doesn't know.

With a camera in front of him and families hoping to see him skate, the easy answer is right there. Giving it could cost him Erin.

A standalone, closed-door, friends-to-lovers holiday hockey romance with a happily ever after.
